It is essential for the devices to communicate with others devices to convey various information like number of steps taken, level of industrial sensors, geo-fencing alerts etc. Of multiple communication options, BLE is the most popular because of its low power consumption and cost. If range is an important criteria, other options available include WiFi, LoRa, ZigBee etc. Embien has multiple design elements based up on BLE SoC, LoRa modules etc.
SENSORS AND INTERFACE :
Sensors in the wearable are the source of physical data that has to be processed. Major sensors used in a wearable are accelerometers, gyroscopes, GPS, temperature sensors, SpO2, heart rate sensors. Also to interact with users LCDs, LEDs, capacitive touch screens etc are being used. Our eStorm-WC designs have all these units available along with necessary firmware libraries.
POWER MANAGEMENT :
With small size and frequent usage, power is the most challenging resource in the wearable. Embien's eStorm WC platforms have been powered by different batteries like Coin cells, Li-ion battery, Ni-Cd battery etc. Few of these designs are powered by non-rechargeable battery for months together. Some of them are rechargeable batteries that can go up to a week without recharging.
